Seedlings
Every year in spring it is a great joy when the irises open their flowers for the first time. It is even more exciting when it comes to your own seedlings. It takes 3-4 years to see them bloom for the first time. In the first year, the seeds are harvested, dried and sown. With a bit of luck, small young plants will develop in the second year, which will grow quickly and be planted out when they are large enough. Then finally, in the third year (sometimes even later) you can see the result of your efforts and your patience will be rewarded: an iris whose bloom is unique. It is amazing how different the flowers can look compared to the parent plants and also to the siblings. A selection of my seedlings is compiled on this page.
